“The Winetech Vinpro Information Days are held annually in May and September in six different regions, focusing on the technical viticultural trends and advice relevant to each grape growing area,” says Conrad Schutte, manager of Vinpro’s consultation service.

The Olifants River region is lifting its head for the first time this year after being one of the regions hit hardest by the recent drought. Water management is therefore a very important aspect of wine grape cultivation in this region.

Gert Engelbrecht, Vinpro viticulturist for this region, will share the first results of a water management project and Abie Vorster of Netafim will explain why it is essential to maintain irrigation systems and how to do it properly. Hennie Visser, Vinpro viticulturist for the Robertson region, will give feedback on the research, practices and technology he observed during an Australian study tour last year.

Finally, Prof Johan Burger of Stellenbosch University will share the latest from the Tropicsafe project focusing on Aster Yellows.

“We encourage all wine grape producers, winemakers, viticulturists, suppliers to the wine industry and other interested parties to equip themselves with the important information shared at regional days,” Conrad says.

Registration costs R150 per person and registration is compulsory. Persons who have registered will receive a unique link to the online webinar platform 24 hours before the event.
