“The Winetech Vinpro information days are held annually in May and September in six different regions, focusing on the technical viticultural trends and advice relevant to each grape growing area,” says Conrad Schutte, manager of Vinpro’s consultation service.
The Stellenbosch region experienced excessive wind at the start of the 2020 harvest season. Dr Philip Myburgh of the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij will share irrigation scheduling tips to mitigate the negative effects of excessive wind, and Dr Kobus Hunter, also of the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij will provide an overview of in-row vine spacing implications.
Prof James Pryk of Stellenbosch University will illustrate the value of remnant natural fynbos in conserving biodiversity and ecosystem function on wine farms in the Western Cape, and Rico Basson of Vinpro will provide an overview of the state of affairs in the South African wine industry.
“We encourage all wine grape producers, winemakers, viticulturists, suppliers to the wine industry and other interested parties to equip themselves with the important information shared at the regional days,” Conrad says.
Attendance costs R150 per person and registration is compulsory. Persons who have registered will receive a link to the online webinar platform 24 hours before the event.
