“The Winetech Vinpro Information Days are held annually in May and September in six different regions, focusing on the technical viticultural trends and advice relevant to each grape growing area,” says Conrad Schutte, manager of Vinpro’s consultation service.
At the information day in the Cape South Coast region, which is characterised by a cool climate, Ivan Janse van Rensburg of Barenbrug will provide an overview of cover crops suited to cool climates and Conrad Schutte of Vinpro will share Italian insights with regard to cool climate wine grape production. Keeping with the climate theme, Dr Hanlé Theron of the Cape Town University of Technology will discuss expected grapevine responses to climate change.
Since May and June signifies pruning time for wine grape producers, Prof Alain Deloire of Montpellier SupAgro will share tips on dormancy and the timing of pruning.
“We encourage all wine grape producers, winemakers, viticulturists, suppliers to the wine industry and other interested parties to equip themselves with the important information shared at the regional days,” Conrad says.
Attendance costs R150 per person and registration is compulsory. Persons who have registered will receive a link to the online webinar platform 24 hours before the event.
